Public/International Affairs

Governance and Policy in Ireland is published as a tribute to the remarkable career of Miriam Hederman O'Brien, who is undoubtedly one of the most influential women of her generation in Ireland.

The authors invited to contribute to this volume were selected on the basis of their experience and expertise in areas in which Miriam has had an interest and has made a contribution. They were not asked to assess her contribution or speculate on her views, but rather to write on important topics in a way that would contribute to contemporary discourse and future policy. The first part of Governance and Policy in Ireland deals with the theme of governance or how we run our affairs, while the second part covers several important areas of public policy, health, education, taxation, homelessness and arts and culture.

Authors: Ruth Barrington, Donal de Buitléir, Peter Cassells, Pat Cox MEP, Peter Feeney, Paul Haran, John Kay, Dermot Keogh, Sir Brian Kerr, Peter McVerry, Thomas N. Mitchell, Patricia Quinn, Frances Ruane.
